Migration

Move your calendar in an afternoon.

Whether you're on Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, Later, Sendible, or SocialPilot — bring your scheduled posts, your brand voice, and your team in three steps.

The three-step move

  1. Export from your current tool. Every mainstream scheduler supports a CSV or JSON export of scheduled posts. We've tested imports from the tools listed below.
  2. Import into ManageSM. From Content → Import, drop the CSV. We map columns automatically and show you the preview before anything is scheduled.
  3. Reconnect your social accounts via OAuth. Your old tool's tokens stay put; the new connection is separate and lives inside ManageSM only.

Time estimate for one brand: 30–90 minutes end-to-end, depending on how many posts are in flight.

We'll do the first brand with you on a call. Book a session via contact — we walk through the export, the CSV cleanup, the import, and the account reconnect together. No sales pitch, just get-it-done help.

By tool

Hootsuite

  1. Publisher → Content → Export → CSV. Choose “Scheduled” date range.
  2. The export has Scheduled Send Time, Social Profile, Message, and Attachment URL — we map all four.
  3. Approval history from Hootsuite doesn't export. Bring approvers over as a new team invite.

Buffer

  1. Buffer has no built-in CSV export. Use the Buffer API (or copy the queue manually for small volumes).
  2. Alternative: connect Buffer's Zapier trigger and pipe scheduled posts to a Google Sheet, then export that as CSV.
  3. We're planning a Buffer importer that hits the API directly — contact us if you need it now.

Sprout Social

  1. Publishing → Publishing Calendar → Export → CSV. Choose the whole date range you want to migrate.
  2. Sprout's Task Assignee and Message Approval Status columns map to our reviewer and approval-state fields.
  3. Sprout's Smart Inbox conversations don't export — those don't come over, though the connected account will re-fetch recent activity once wired up.

Later

  1. Later's exports live in Analytics → Export. It gives you a per-post CSV including caption, media URL, and scheduled time.
  2. Media URLs work directly — we fetch and store them in your media library on import.

Sendible

  1. Reports → Content Report → Export → CSV.
  2. Sendible's post statuses map cleanly to our draft/queued/published states.

SocialPilot

  1. Publish → Queue → Export CSV.
  2. Category assignments carry over as ManageSM categories with the same names.

What we import

  • Scheduled posts — text, scheduled time, target network, target account.
  • Media — images and videos are fetched from the source URLs and stored in your ManageSM media library.
  • Categories / labels — mapped 1:1 to ManageSM categories.
  • Team assignees — mapped by email address to invited ManageSM users.

What we don't import

  • Historical analytics from the old tool — you keep those there. ManageSM analytics start from the moment you publish through us.
  • Direct-message inboxes — those live with the network, not the tool.
  • Custom approval workflows — you'll rebuild these in ManageSM Settings (usually 10 minutes).

Do we lose scheduled posts during the transition?

No. The recommended sequence:

  1. Import your scheduled posts into ManageSM as drafts (default).
  2. Connect the same social accounts in ManageSM (both tools can hold OAuth tokens simultaneously — the network doesn't care).
  3. On the cutover date: pause auto-publish in the old tool, mark the corresponding ManageSM posts as scheduled.
  4. Verify the first day, then disconnect the old tool at your leisure.

Cutover checklist

  • Export scheduled posts from your old tool.
  • Import as drafts in ManageSM.
  • Connect social accounts.
  • Invite team members.
  • Recreate any approval rules in Settings.
  • Recreate your posting-time slots.
  • Mark imported drafts as scheduled once times look right.
  • Pause the old tool.
  • Verify the first day of publishing.
  • Disconnect the old tool.
